• Normal nerve does not demonstrate any enhancement

• Optic nerve tumor or inflammation demonstrates central enhancement

• Optic nerve sheath neoplasm or inflammation demonstrates peripheral enhancement

• A cystic or hemorrhagic lesion does not enhance
